Great Yarmouth

Frisby's School of English is located in the popular seaside resort of Great Yarmouth and is just 500 metres from the beach and the shopping centre. Students will experience the beauty of the Norfolk Broads, the miles of golden sandy beaches and the excitement of Great Yarmouth’s nightlife. From horse riding to kite surfing, romantic walks to amusement parks, Great Yarmouth will always offer you a choice of entertainment. Great Yarmouth, situated on the East coast of England, is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Great Britain.

Full of holiday surprises and contrasts, the area includes not just the busy town
of Great Yarmouth but also twenty-one villages set in beautiful coastal and rural surroundings alongside the famous Norfolk Broads. There are over 15 miles of sandy beaches within the Great Yarmouth area offering an attractive blend of wide sandy beaches, sand dunes and cliffs – all in all, the best of the Norfolk Coast. Thrills and spills, sun and fun – these are the ingredients for a happy holiday. There's always something for everyone, with funfairs, fireworks, boat trips, novelty golf, bowling and leisurely walks.

Norfolk Broads and Countryside

As well as being famous as a seaside holiday resort, the Great Yarmouth area is also widely renowned for the beautiful Norfolk countryside which surrounds it – mile after mile of open land, with traditional old windmills, windpumps and the tranquil sight of ships' sails gliding across the horizon. The waterways, our famous Norfolk Broads, are an important part of East Anglia's cultural heritage. We recommend students take part in boat trips starting from Great Yarmouth travelling along the Norfolk Broads. Boats can also be hired privately from local towns and villages. The Norfolk Broads are also a very popular venue for bird watching and painting.
Frisby’s School of English can arrange watercolour painting lessons with a famous local artist – please contact us for further details.

Shopping

Great Yarmouth puts the fun back into shopping, whether in the high street chain stores, quirky local shops or the more traditional seaside shops. The local market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays where you can buy the newest fashions and music. The City of Norwich is 30 minutes from Great Yarmouth and offers a large shopping complex as well as smaller shops and one of Europe’s largest undercover markets.

Trip the Night Fantastic

When the sun goes down, Great Yarmouth becomes a wonderland of colour as our seafront illuminations light up your way to a night out on the town to enjoy our theatres, nightclubs, cinemas and casinos.

Special Events

Great Yarmouth hosts special events ranging from fetes to festivals, carnivals to concerts and firework displays on the seafront to add to your holiday experience. Frisby’s English School works with the local tourist information body to ensure students have all the information on what is happening so an event is never missed.
