Terms & Conditions

Enrolment

These are the terms and conditions set out by Frisby's Home of English / Frisby’s School of English, valid for all bookings made with Frisby's Home of English ("we", "us", "the school") by you ("the student", "the course participant"). All enrolments are subject to these conditions, which become legally binding on confirmation of acceptance by Frisby's Home of English.
Frisby's Home of English reserves the right to withhold confirmation of an enrolment, at its discretion, if such action is deemed necessary in the interests of the student or the school.

Fees

Fees must be paid in full before course commencement.
No compensation, fee reductions, refunds, credit, additional lessons or extension of the course can be given for:

services or facilities included in the fees and not used

late entry to or absence or early departure from a course

lessons replaced by testing and class allocation procedures on course entry dates

days when the school is closed because of official holidays

Any refunds which are approved can only be made by the office or Representative to whom the fees were originally paid.
Frisby's Home of English reserves the right to make fee adjustments as a result of changes in the exchange rates or statutory taxes.

 

School Regulations

Frisby's Home of English publishes regulations to ensure that the courses function smoothly. Acceptance of and compliance with these regulations, and with English law, are contractual obligations on the part of the student.
Whenever Frisby's Home of English accepts the enrolment of a student below the minimum age specified for the course or below the age of 16 years, the person enrolling the student accepts responsibility for his or her conduct, security and well-being.

Cancellation

The full amount of course fees is payable 21 days before commencement of the course on receipt of the course confirmation. Bookings made less than 3 weeks before course commencement must be paid in full on receipt of the course confirmation. Any other fees, e.g. for cancellations, must be paid on receipt of the invoice. Bank charges are the student's liability, any charges incurred by Frisby's Home of English are passed on to the student on their arrival and must be paid immediately.

Person in your place

Up until the course commencement it is possible for somebody else to take the course instead of yourself. Frisby's Home of English reserves the right to reject this person if he / she does not meet the course or any legal requirements. The handling charge for this is 50 Pounds. Should there be any other costs, e.g. airport pickup for courses which do not include this service, a separate charge will be made.

Booking alterations

Alterations to a booking regarding course dates and accommodation can be made up to 14 days before course commencement for a fee of 20 Pounds. Alterations less than 14 days before course commencement incur a charge of 70 Pounds.

Cancellation by Frisby's Home of English

If a student does not comply with the terms and conditions at our school, Frisby's Home of English reserves the right to cancel the contract with immediate effect. The course fees will not be reimbursed. Possible surcharges, e.g. additional airport transfer charges, will be invoiced to the student.
Should you decide not to utilize services booked with Frisby's Home of English after the commencement of your course there will be no reimbursement of fees.

Guarantee

Should you find fault with the services provided by Frisby's Home of English you must declare your claim to the Director of Frisby's Home of English during your course period. Any claims made after the end of your course at Frisby's Home of English will not be recognized. In the event of a justified claim, the Director reserves the right to make adequate reimbursement.

Passport, Visa, Customs restrictions

It is each student's responsibility to keep to these restrictions. Non-compliance with these regulations and any costs that might be incurred due to this are the student's responsibility. Please also see "Students who need a visa for entry into the UK".

Insurance

Frisby's Home of English, its Representatives and staff will not be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury to persons or property however caused. It is the student's responsibility to take out personal insurance against all such risks, including inability to attend or continue a course and insurance for the payment of medical expenses.

Unavoidable Circumstances

It shall be a fundamental condition of the contract between Frisby's Home of English or its Representatives that neither shall we any way be liable to the student in the event of any contracted service becoming impossible to supply by reason of industrial dispute or any other cause outside their control.

Students who need a visa for entry into the UK

The above terms and conditions apply with the exception of cancellation and booking alteration rules.
If you need a visa for entry into the UK, Frisby's Home of English will send you an invitation on receipt of full payment of course fees. A copy of this invitation will be sent to the British Embassy in your country. Should you not receive your visa, Frisby's Home of English will keep a handling fee of 150 Pounds and return the remainder of your payment less bank charges to you on receipt of the official refusal document from the British Embassy in your country.
If you receive your visa and decide not to take your up course at Frisby's Home of English, a report of your absence will be sent to the British Embassy in your country and to British Immigration Authorities.

Data Protection

Frisby’s Home of English conform with current data protection standards as set out by ICO.

Smoking Law

Smoking in England is not permitted in any enclosed or substantially enclosed premises or vehicles that are open to the public including pubs, restaurants and all places of work.

Licensing Laws

It is against the law for anyone under 18 to buy alcohol in a pub, supermarket or other licensed outlet in the UK. Adults are not allowed to buy alcohol for under 18s in licensed premises.

Under 5: It is illegal to give an alcoholic drink to a child under 5 except under medical supervision in an emergency.

Under 14: It is at the landlord’s discretion as to whether children are allowed anywhere in a pub. They cannot buy or drink alcohol on the premises.

14 or 15: You can go anywhere in a pub, but cannot buy or drink alcohol.

Under 18:  Adults are not allowed to buy alcohol on behalf of under 18s in licensed premises. The only exception is for 16 and 17 year olds who are allowed to drink beer, wine or cider at a meal with responsible adults—but they may not buy the alcohol themselves.

Medical Insurance

We strongly recommend you take you medical and dental insurance for your trip to the UK. Visitors to the UK from EU countries and Switzerland should apply for a EHIC European Health Insurance Card. Validity of Conditions

These conditions of enrolment are valid from 23 April 2003 and are subject to English law.

The licensing laws and smoking law are correct as at 04 February 2010.
